Your Pet

Remember — all Calgary cats and dogs must have a City of Calgary licence by three months of age. Failure to license your pet is liable to a $250 fine.

No one wants to think about a missing pet, but a licence offers peace of mind. In case your pet wanders too far from home, his licence enables Community Standards to return him home as soon as he is found.

Did you know?

Dogs must wear their licence tags whenever they are off their owner’s property. Cats with a microchip or legible tattoo don’t need to wear a licence tag. However, without permanent identification, or if a tattoo is no longer legible, a licence tag is required.

The cost of a one-year licence:

  • Puppies (up to six months old) and altered dogs $37
  • Unaltered dogs $60
  • Altered cats $17
  • Unaltered cats $35
